The heat exchanger plates are the "heart" of a plate heat exchanger, consisting of thin metal sheets manufactured through a stamping process. They are engraved with complex corrugated flow channels. Multiple plates are assembled and pressed together to form a complex network of channels, allowing hot and cold fluids to flow in opposite directions within adjacent channels, achieving efficient heat exchange through the plates.
The plates act as solid partitions, separating the two fluids at different temperatures and allowing heat to be transferred from the high-temperature fluid to the low-temperature fluid. The corrugated structure on the plates forces the fluids to constantly change direction and velocity within the channels, effectively disrupting the fluid boundary layer and greatly enhancing heat transfer efficiency. The plates themselves possess a certain strength and rigidity, sharing the system's operating pressure with the clamping plates on both sides. Sealing gasket grooves at the plate edges ensure gasket placement, achieving a reliable seal and preventing leakage between the two fluids or external leakage.
